  • Little Free Libraries

    The Oaks Historic District maintains five Little Free Libraries. Built by Ralph Jordan and painted by local artists, these libraries encourage visitors to “Take a Book and Leave a Book!” Visit them all.

  • High School Senior Scholarships

    The Oaks Historic District Neighborhood Association awards an annual scholarship to a deserving high school senior and resident of the Oaks Historic District.

Past Projects

All Oaks Historic District Neighborhood Association projects are funded through memberships, which make fundraisers like the Preservation Bash and Homes for the Holidays possible. These annual events help us raise funds to continue to work for the good of the neighborhood. Thank you for your ongoing support!

  • Contributed to the creation of the Ida Reed Dog Park

  • Hosted an art contest for unique bike racks that were constructed and placed on Calder

  • Paid for the creation and installation of street signage on Calder for the Oaks Historic District

  • Planted oak trees in the neighborhood after Hurricane Ike

  • Landscaped Pecos Boulevard

  • Funded the installation of an Oaks Historic District sign that faces IH-10 on Beech Street

  • Installed benches at the Ida Reed Dog Park

  • Organized trash pick-ups in the community (ongoing)
